Earth Day Lakeshore Celebration

Saturday, April 23 | 1-4pm | Central Park, Grand Haven
Celebrate Earth Day 2022 at Central park in Grand Haven at the great Earth Day Lakeshore Celebration. There will be vendors, horse-dawn carriage rides, food and a whole lot of fun and excitement. A perfect event for the entire family!

The Green Parade will go though downtown Grand Haven and everyone is welcome to join – just bring your non-fossil fueled vehicles, signs, strollers, bikes, roller skates & dogs at meet at the County Courthouse parking lot at 12:30pm.

Righteous Cuisine food truck will be serving up delicious eats, Steel Doin’ It will be performing live music and multiple vendors will be resent to promote sustainability and provide art activities for kids.

Beach Clean Ups

BEACH CLEAN UP

Sat., April 16 | 1PM – 3PM at Kirk Park
Join the Ottawa County Parks in helping to keep our lakeshore clean! All equipment will be provided, along with water and snack.

GRAND RIVER CLEAN UP
Hosted by Tri-Cities Ducks Unlimited
Sat., April 23 | 9AM at Indian Channel Boat Launch (144th Ave)
Volunteer to help clean our waters! Trash bags will be provided as well as a noon lunch at the boat launch.

EARTH DAY BEACH CLEAN UP
Hosted Aldea Coffee & My Barefoot Wedding
Sat., April 23 | 11AM – 1PM at Grand Haven State Park
Celebrate Earth Day with a beach clean up! Gather your buckets & gloves and meet at the entrance of the pier at 9am.

GRAND RIVER CLEAN UP
Hosted by Ottawa County Parks
Sat., April 23 | 1-4PM at Ottawa Sands County Park
Help remove trash and debris from the section of the Grand River near Ottawa Sands!

Sustainable Travel

We believe in keeping the Grand Haven Area beautiful for generations to come and as a visitor, you play an important tole in helping us achieve our goal! Our sustainable tourism efforts are focused on preserving and protecting our natural beauty while encouraging the growth of the tourism industry. Do your part by being mindful of sustainable tourism practices to preserve our one-of-a-kind destination for the future enjoyment of others!

BEACHES + SAND DUNES
· Use eco-friendly sunscreen and lotions
· Fill in sand castles and holes on the beach when finished
· Keep you and your pets off the dunes
· No fires on the beach

WILDLIFE + ENDANGERED SPECIES
· Do not feed the gulls, ducks or wild animals
· Do not get between young birds and the dunes; as to not separated from their parents

RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT – STOP AQUATIC HITCHIKERS
· Remove any visible mud, plants, fish or animals before transporting your recreational equipment.
· Eliminate water from equipment before transporting
· Clean and dry anything that comes into contact with the water
(boats, trailers, equipment, clothing, dogs, etc.)
· Never release plants, fish or animals into a body of water unless they came out of that body of water

FISHING
· Recycle your fishing line – do not throw it in the trash. A recycle container is located on the pier
· A Michigan fishing license is required to fish or net in the Grand Haven Area. Youth under the age of 17 are not required to be licensed.

PETS
· Keep pets on a leash
· Clean up after your pet.  Pet waste receptacles are located at the beach in the dog friendly area as well as throughout town.

VEHICLES
· Obey posted speed limits
· Park in designated areas only

TRASH + LITTER
· Do not litter
· Please use the nearest recycle container
· No glass is allowed on the beach or boardwalk
