With a shovel and pail in hand at the 41st Annual Sand Sculpture Contest, you’ll be sure to enjoy a beautiful summer day at Grand Haven City Beach! Kick off your summer along the Lake Michigan shoreline by putting your sand sculpting skills to the test!

Enjoy a day at the beach as the sky is filled with colorful kites of all types and sizes. World-famous stunt kite fliers perform to music on the center flying field while kites larger than a school bus hover just to the south. Bring your own kite to fly on the open flying field at the north end of the event, or test fly the year’s newest kites on one of the manufacturers’ fields.
This festival is fun and FREE to attend! There is a charge to park inside the Grand Haven State Park (out-of-state residents and those who have opted not to add a recreational pass to their license plate tabs will need to pay; those who do have a recreational plate tab will get in free).
Kites will be flying on Saturday, May 18, from 10am-5pm and on Sunday, May 19 from 11am-5pm. All events are weather and wind permitting so cross your fingers for great weather!
