Food Friday: Toasted Pickle

Toasted Pickle is a one-of-a-kind sandwich shop located in the heart of downtown Grand Haven. They serve a variety of specialty sandwiches, salads, and soups daily. Lemonades and shakes are also offered on their menu for a sweet treat to enjoy.

Toasted Pickle is known for adding their own special flare on classic sandwich recipes. They only serve the best at the Toasted Pickle, as each plate is prepared with fresh and local ingredients. You can even get your food delivered to you while you are at the local brewery, Odd Side Ales.

Skylar is a passionate worker at Toasted Pickle for over a year and was able to give us a behind the scenes look at how their specialty lemonades are made. Each lemonade starts out with freshly squeezed lemon juice for the tart flavor, and is then followed by ice and sugar water. Juicy fruits and flavors are mixed perfectly for each lemonade flavor to create the perfect lemonade.

Some of the flavors they have are raspberry, strawberry basil, pina colada, pineapple, blueberry, mango, peach, lavender, pomegranate, cherry lime, Arnold Palmer, and their newest flavor, dill pickle!

New Flavor!

The Dill pickle lemonade is made with lemon juice, pickle juice, and sugar water. This is a must try for all of the pickle lovers to enjoy a refreshing drink on a hot summer day! Another way you are able to add an extra burst of flavor to your lemonade is with strawberry or mango Boba. Boba is a little sweet bursting juice bubbles that can add flavor to any drink in a fun way. On a hot day you can get one of their lemonades to go in a 64oz growler and take it on the boat or to the beach. Customers  can even continue to refill your growler so you are able to try different flavors.

Another one of their special drinks are their shakes. Their flavors are vanilla, chocolate, Oreo, strawberry, and a specialty featured shake that is called Cruella De Vil Shake. In this specialty hand made shake, there is vanilla ice cream, swirled Oreos and cherries & topped with a cherry & whipped cream.  If you are in the mood for another sweet treat, you can  try one of their sprinkle, double chocolate, or chocolate chip cookies that are all made in house. 

Moving on to one of their most popular sandwiches that has been featured on the food network is their Green Goddess sandwich. This is a grilled cheese sandwich with goat cheese, cheddar, avocado, and  house made sweet pesto on sourdough. Nashville Hottie has a crispy chicken breast, sweet & spicy pickles, house made coleslaw topped with Toasted Pickle hottie sauce, and serrano crema on a brioche bun. All of their sandwiches and burgers are served with a pickle spear.

If you are in the mood for something lighter, they have three salad options, which are Chopped Salad, Dilly Deli salad, and Michigan Cherry Salad. They have tomato and broccoli cheese soup for those who want to warm up with a savory bowl. 

Since there are so many different options on the menu, it might be tough to choose just one thing but whatever you choose we know you will enjoy it. Don’t forget to pair their new refreshing dill pickle lemonade with one of their unique sandwiches.
