Meet the 2023 Summer Interns

This summer, the Grand Haven Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is excited to welcome Anika and Ava as the two Marketing & Media Interns.

Anika

Hi everyone! My name is Anika and I am one of the Marketing and Media interns at the Grand Haven Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for this summer.

I am a Junior at Hope College studying both Communications and Studio Art. I have had a strong love for art ever since I can remember and plan to go into Graphic Design after college. I currently live in Holland but I am from the Grand Rapids area. My whole life I have grown up going to the lakeshore, whether that’s building sand castles on the beach or spending all day out on the boat. When I’m not at work you can find me by the water taking photos or laying out in the sun attempting not to get burnt.

Another fact about me is that I love traveling, especially traveling spontaneously. In the past year I have done road trips to Maine, Canada, Tennessee and Ohio. With all those trips I have discovered that I am pretty good at finding fun things to do in other cities. I have found things like random concerts going on in that area to the best place to get ice cream. Even though I am pretty familiar with the Grand Haven area I am very excited to share all the fun activities and events happening around town this summer with you.

Ava

Hello! My name is Ava. I am from Norton Shores, Michigan, and a Senior at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. I’m studying Business with a concentration in Marketing and I recently just returned from a semester abroad in Dublin, Ireland. One of the best parts of being in Ireland was learning about the history and culture of Ireland and seeing the beautiful Cliffs of Moher. At Hope, I had experience as a Social Media assistant with Hope Athletics, and in Ireland, I had a great time working as a marketing intern for a local company.

My favorite pastimes are reading, art, music, and cooking, and after a few failed attempts, I’ve started to bake as well (just don’t ask me to make chocolate chip cookies). The dishes I’m best at making would probably be pork carnitas, jambalaya, and Cajun chicken pasta. My favorite music decade would probably be the 90s. Outside of working at the Bureau, I can’t wait to hang out with friends this summer, go thrifting and exploring in West Michigan, especially Grand Haven.
