AUTHOR EVENT - Philip Stead
November 5, 2026 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Come meet Award-winning picture book author Philip Stead. He will be signing his new middle-grade book, "A Potion, a Powder, a Little Bit of Magic or, Like Lightning in an Umbrella Storm (a story out of order)." A plucky goat keeper named Bernadette embarks on a chaotic quest to retrieve a runaway goat, with help from a forgetful wizard and a Boat That Does Not Grant Wishes, in an out-of-order tale narrated by an author scrambling to finish it.
"A ragtag ensemble, a daunting task, an uncertain journey: Here are all the makings of a classic fantasy tale, with the bonus additions of Mr. Stead's droll humor and eye for whimsical detail."--The Wall Street Journal
