Ice Cream for Breakfast
February 7, 2026 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Sweet Temptations in Grand Haven, along with member shops of the North American Ice Cream Association, invites the community to celebrate National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Celebrated annually on the first Saturday of February, Ice Cream for Breakfast Day dates back to the mid-1960s. Legend has it that Florence Rappaport created the tradition on a snowy morning in Rochester, New York, as a way to entertain her six children. What began as a family tradition quickly spread from state to state — and eventually around the world — with celebrations now held as far away as New Zealand, Germany, and China.
On February 7, guests are invited to stop by Sweet Temptations for a festive morning featuring limited-release flavors, waffle sundaes, and hot chocolate and coffee floats, all made with the shop’s national award-winning ice cream. The store will open at 8:00 a.m. and serve ice-cream-inspired breakfast treats until noon.
Guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas, and prizes will be awarded throughout the event.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to make their mark on the North American Ice Cream Association’s Ice Cream for Breakfast Day map, which tracks participating shops and the number of customers celebrating nationwide. The Association’s goal is to bring communities together to enjoy more than one million ice cream treats in a single day.
What could be better than ice cream for breakfast?
