Handicap Accessibility Guide in the Grand Haven Area
Finding handicap accessibility may not always be the easiest, especially when you’re on vacation, but here in the Grand Haven Area, we try to make as many accommodations as we possibly can. From comfortable lodging options to noteworthy attractions and activities, here are some spots in the area that are ADA accessible:
Attractions
Grand Haven State Park
Come out and enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Michigan. The Grand Haven State Park has handicap accessible picnic shelters, specially equipped beach sand wheelchairs and 3 track chairs that provide electronic off-road accessibility that are on a first-come-first-serve basis, a beach house, playground and fishing pier.
Rosy Mound Natural Area
Rosy Mound Natural Area has barrier-free facilities that include parking lot bathrooms, picnic tables, and grills. There are also some wheelchair accessible trails that can be located on the map.
Harbor Trolley
The seasonal Harbor Trolley that everyone enjoys while touring the Grand Haven Area has ADA accessible seating that can be located upon boarding.
Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium

The Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium is completely ADA accessible, which is also where the Musical Fountain, a variety of concert series and any of the Grand Haven firework shows can be watched from.
Chinook Pier
Chinook Pier is ADA accessible in several areas such as main walkways, restrooms, Farmer’s Market, splash pad, and in the majority of the Marina areas.
The Boardwalk
The entire walkway of the boardwalk is ADA accessible. Additionally, the benches along the boardwalk are made to be user-friendly with both arms and backs to rest on.
Central Park
Central Park, located right in the heart of the city of Grand Haven, is almost all predominantly ADA accessible.
Public Restrooms:
The public restrooms in the Grand Haven Area are ADA accessible and have various locations.
Downtown
The downtown area of Grand Haven is ADA accessible as a whole, although each specific location varies in terms of shopping places and restaurants.
Parking
There are handicap parking spots in nearly every public parking lot.
Lodging
Baymont Inn & Suites, Best Western Beacon Inn, Holiday Inn, Rodeway Inn of Grand Haven, Rodeway Inn, Sleep Inn & Suites, Boyden House Bed & Breakfast and Harbor House Inn are all lodging options in the Grand Haven Area that offer handicap accessible options.
