Directed by award-winning producer Nate Roels, "Wronged: The Maurice Carter Story" is a powerful documentary that speaks to the heart of injustice and resilience. This film chronicles the harrowing journey of Maurice Carter, a man whose life was forever altered by a wrongful conviction, and the inception of Humanity for Prisoners.
In 1976, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Maurice Carter was wrongfully convicted of shooting an off-duty police officer. For 29 years, Maurice endured the despair of incarceration for a crime he did not commit.
In the wake of Maurice's unjust suffering, Doug Tjapkes founded Humanity for Prisoners in 2001, a groundbreaking organization dedicated to supporting prisoners and their families in navigating the challenges of incarceration.
