'Caring for Your Photographs' is the second workshop in the 'Caring for Your Collections' series. Come to one, or come to all! It is a free and educational workshop led by Heidi Mathews, Registrar and Jared Yax, Collections Curator. This experience will take place at Tri-Cities Historical Museum's Community Archives and Research Center.

Sign up to learn more about how to organize and store your personal photograph collection. Heidi will be sharing tips to safely store and organize your personal digital and physical photograph collection. Jared will share how to identify and mitigate varying physical conditions. Please bring a personal collection photograph of your choice to encapsulate in mylar and file away in a folder!

Caring for Your Textiles

Do you have a vintage quilt, wedding dress or favorite concert t-shirt?

Caring for Your Textiles is the third workshop in the 'Caring for Your Collections' series. Come to one, or come to all! It is a free and educational workshop led by Cheryl Kastas, Associate Collections Manager. This experience will take place at Tri-Cities Historical Museum's Community Archives and Research Center.

Cheryl will be teaching participants how to care for personal vintage textiles. During the workshop, you will also learn the different types of fibers found in vintage textiles, how to make padded hangers and how to properly store textiles.

Caring for Your Collections

'Caring for Your Collections' is a free and educational workshop led by Jared Yax, Collections Curator of Tri-Cities Historical Museum. This experience will take place at Tri-Cities Historical Museum's Community Archives and Research Center.

The workshop will begin with a lecture detailing how museums preserve artifacts and how these techniques can be applied at home with your own collections. Attendees will learn about agents of deterioration, optimal preservation conditions, and where to find materials and resources that are needed to keep objects safe. The workshop will conclude with a tour of the museum’s storage and preservation facility.

Feel free to bring along a piece from your collection to learn more about how to properly care for and preserve it!
