Best Hot Dogs in the Grand Haven Area
Did you know that National Hot Dog Day always lands on the 3rd Wednesday of July? Well now you do! We’re always looking for ways to celebrate the best things the Grand Haven area has to offer so National Hot Dog Day sounds like the perfect excuse to eat some hot dogs. We asked our social media followers where their favorite hot dog creations were – here’s what they said!
Pronto Pups
The Pronto Pup stand has been a Grand Haven waterfront staple since 1947. Yep, 60+ years! The recipe hasn’t changed in 60 years because you don’t mess with perfection. You can get your Pronto Pup plain, with ketchup, with mustard, or with both. They are only open during the warmer months except for one weekend a year in January for their annual community fundraiser. And just like the 1940s, only cash is accepted. P.S. – Don’t just order one. You’ll regret it.
Fleabags Tastiest Dogs
Fleabags opened in November and has been serving up creative hot dogs ever since. Their most popular dogs are the Chicago Dog, The Snooky (covered in Cincinnati chili and shredded cheese), and the Eastside Cowboy (ketchup, onion, Nathan’s specialty mustard, and potato salad). Other topping combinations include the likes of baked beans, spaghetti, tortilla chips, pineapple chunks, Fritos, kalamata olives, peanut butter, and much more. Great Lakes Greek Chili Dogs
Since 1987, Great Lakes Greek Chili Dogs has been serving up authentic Greek chili dogs. They make their chili dog sauce fresh everyday a serve it over a grilled – never boiled – hot dog in a steamed bun and topped with tangy mustard, sweet onions, and pickles. Their sauce is made with 100% ground beef and Greek seasoning. Pair this with their crispy crinkle fries and a milk shake and you can consider yourself FULL. But if you’re not for some reason, they have all you can eat chili dogs and fries every Monday from 5pm-8pm for $7.99!
Stack’s Chicago Style Eats
Stack’s brings Chicago to Grand Haven with their classic Chicago Style Hot Dog complete with mustard, relish, onion, tomato, dill pickle, sport pepper, and celery salt on top of a 100% Vienna Beef hot dog. You can also order their classic hot dog, a chili cheese dog, and their BLT Dog topped with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Don’t forget to try their hand dipped onion rings too!
The Top Dog & Dairy
Located near downtown Coopersville, you can find The Top Dog & Dairy which is open seven days a weeks from May 1st through September 30th. They serve up classic hot dogs, spins on the classics, and specialty dogs. Not a condiment fan? Order The Naked Dog. Vegetarian? The Missing Dog has kraut, cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickle, and onion. Dog not included. Like your dog with extra kick? The Bronco Kick comes with horseradish and the Hott Dog has jalapenos. The Reuben Dog has kraut, Swiss cheese, and 1000 island dressing. The Texas Ranger Dog has Beef BBQ, onion, and mustard. Top Dog also serves up fries, ice cream, sundaes, flurries, parfaits, shakes, slushies and more!
Butch’s Beach Burritos
You may not think a place with ‘burritos’ in their name would carry hot dogs, but they do! And darn good ones too! Butch’s puts a little spin on their hot dogs so that they fit in with their burrito, taco, and nacho menu neighbors. Each of their dogs are wrapped bun and all in a freshly steamed tortilla. You have the Chiwawa Chili Dog that is topped with beef, beans, cheese, and salsa. Then you have the Beachin’ Dog that is topped with lettuce, tomato, mild peppers, cheese, and salsa. They also have the Cheese Dog which speaks for itself. The main location in Grand Haven is open during the warmer months and the Spring Lake location is open all year long!
