During the Golden Age of Great Lakes passenger steamships, print media was the primary form of advertising these luxurious vessels. Steamship companies promoted ships, routes, ports of call, and onboard leisure activities with vibrant, colorful, and detailed artwork that reflected major trends in architecture, interior design, and illustration. Join Claire Herhold from the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven for a look at the beautiful artwork from these advertisements, and a sneak peak of the Museum’s exhibit, “Full Steam Ahead: The Golden Age of Great Lakes Passenger Steamships.”
