Truly a wonderland during the winter months, the Grand Haven region offers the ideal way to explore its pristine beauty by cross-country skiing, down hill skiing or snowshoeing. There are plenty of trails, both groomed and ungroomed, at area parks. Many venues feature plenty of additional family activities, including sledding and skating. Amenities such as restrooms, warming houses and concessions make the day comfortable as well as fun. Strap on your skis or shoes and revel in the splendor of a Michigan winter landscape.

Welcome to the West Michigan Lakeshore, where you can cross-country ski through woods and dunes, see majestic icebergs loating on Lake Michigan, or discover lighthouses that have been transformed into huge sculptures of ice. 

This area experiences regular lake effect snows, so chances are we'll have plenty, even if the snow has disappeared where you live.  If you're ready for an active outdoor weekend or just lounging at a cozy inn, this is where you're sure to find a winter getaway that fits your mood.

Pigeon Creek Park-16k Cross Country Skiing & Sledding

Beginner to Advanced
Sledding hill next to warming lodge, which offers ski rentals and concessions. Groomed trails, three miles of lighted trails with compacted ski-skating lane in addition to the traditional stride track. Restrooms available in winter. P.J. Hoffmaster State Park-5k Cross Country Skiing &

Intermediate to Advanced
Heavily forested Lake Michigan sand dunes. Visitor Center featuring sand dune interpretation exhibits, 1043 acres. Marked, ungroomed trails. Restrooms are available and trail maps are posted at the site. Gillette Visitors Center (231) 798-3573.

 

Mulligan's Hollow-2.5k Downhill & Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding & Ice Skating

Intermediate
Lighted ice rink and lighted downhill ski area including tow rope, snowmaking a new warming house and rustic 2.5k cross country ski trail. Restrooms available in winter. Mulligans Hollow Ski Bowl (616) 842-0634 for hours & conditions.

 

Hemlock Crossing-10k Cross Country Skiing

Beginner to Advanced
Wooded 239 acres along the Pigeon River. Trails marked and ungroomed Trail maps posted on site.   Rustic restrooms available year around.Ottawa County Parks & Rec. (616) 738-4810.

 

Hofma Park & Preserve-4k Cross Country Skiing

Beginner to Intermediate
Beautiful forests surrounding Pottawattomie Bayou wetlands, 500 acres. Marked and ungroomed trails. Trail maps are available & posted on site. No restrooms in winter.Grand Haven Township

Kirk Park-2.5k Cross Country Skiing

Beginner to Advanced
