Top 10 Reasons To Attend The 2015 Salmon Festival

The 12th Annual Grand Haven Salmon Festival is September 18th-20th, 2015 and here are the Visitors Bureau we are busy putting together the final details of this year’s event. Like always, our festival has something for everyone and for all ages. Take a look through our top 10 reasons to attend the 2015 Salmon Festival to plan your weekend with us in Grand Haven!

#1 – Michigan’s Only Zero Waste To Landfill Festival
It’s true! Since 2011, we have worked tirelessly on figuring out the best way to make Salmon Fest a more sustainable, green festival. The best method for an event so large, we’ve found that composting is the way to go. Working with Chef Container in Holland and using all compostable products from World Centric including plates, cups, silverware – we have been able to divert thousands upon thousands of pounds of trash from the landfill and turn it into usable compost. In 2014, we were able to compost or recycle 97% of our festival’s waste! The remaining 3% (around 40 pounds) was processed in a waste-to-energy incinerator making us a zero waste to landfill event for the second year in a row! Read more…
